Call for Papers Deadline: AGING AND THE POSTHUMAN

26 March / 2014

In a scholarly context that is increasingly turning to the posthuman, the transhuman, and the virtual, explorations of the embodied experience of age and its cultural resonances offer crucial insights into the uniquely human awareness of the experience of living through time. For a guaranteed panel sponsored by the Modern Language Association's Age Studies Discussion Group at the 2015 Modern Language Association Convention in Vancouver (8-11 January 2015), we invite abstracts for papers considering age, aging, or old age in the context of the posthuman or the transhuman.
Please submit a 250-word abstract along with a brief biography by 26 March
to Cynthia Port (cport@coastal.edu) and Jen Boyle (jboyle@coastal.edu).

Participating panelists must be MLA members by 7 April.

Age, Culture, Humanities promotes cross-disciplinary, critical
investigations of the experiences of age, aging, and old age, as seen
through the lens of the humanities and arts. The goals are to consider age
as a category of identity, advance understanding of the aging process and
of age differences across the lifespan, interrogate cultural articulations
of aging and old age, and generate innovative, engaging scholarly
approaches to the study of age and aging in the humanities.

Age, Culture, Humanities is published by the Athenaeum Press of Coastal
Carolina University and edited by Cynthia Port and Aagje Swinnen. The
journal is affiliated with the North American Network in Aging Studies
(NANAS) and the European Network in Aging Studies (ENAS).

All manuscripts undergo editorial screening; scholarly articles are
selected for publication through a double-blind peer review process. The
